Confessions of a Writing Contest Judge

Winning a contest can be the thrill, validation, and encouragement a writer needs to keep writing. Contest submissions can also be excellent practice ground for submitting work to an editor or agent. How does a writer submit a manuscript that will rise above all the other entries to be a winner? Participants will learn how to select a contest, how to avoid 'fake' contests, and leave with five tips for getting their work recognized and five things to avoid when entering a writing contest. Instructor has judged (and entered) numerous writing contests for both youth and adults. Come and learn what you can do to help your entry rise to the top!
