Kelly has been deeply involved in the Seattle comics scene since 2006. She is one of the original founders of the Short Run Comix & Arts Festival, now active for 9 years. In 2014, Kelly left her job at a marketing office and began teaching in earnest for many art organizations as well as growing Short Run into a nonprofit that might actually pay her a salary. Kelly is dedicated to supporting the comics community and helping it to grow and become more inclusive to women, people of color, LGBTQ+ and disabled persons. Kelly is living proof that comics are a medium open to everyone, capable of breaching social and cultural barriers and ideal for opening hearts and minds.
