Marbles & Mobility: Healthful Aging in the 21st Century with Dr. Connie. Amundson

This fall, Dr. Connie Amundson is teaching Marbles & Mobility: Healthful Aging in the 21st Century, a class that looks at what it means to live better, longer. Connie has spent more than 40 years in chiropractic practice focusing on the connections between structure, chemistry, and emotions. Her clients have aged alongside her, and she feels fortunate to support so many in staying active and engaged later in life.

Connie’s teaching is shaped by her belief that curiosity keeps us healthy. She sees Continuing Education as a way to spark that curiosity and open the door to new questions. Her goal is for you to leave class with three habits that feel enjoyable and doable, plus a clearer sense of how your biological age compares to your chronological age.

The class blends lecture and hands-on activities. You’ll explore the impact of sleep, nutrition, exercise, creativity, and social connection on healthful aging. You’ll also look at drug- and surgery-free ways to care for painful joints. Along the way, Connie encourages you to think about how you can bring what you learn back into your community.

Outside the classroom, Connie’s life is full. She swims in Lake Washington year-round, hikes, kayaks, skis, and spends time walking city parks. She’s also an avid reader with a love for fantasy and adventure novels. When asked what food she’d want on a deserted island, her answer was simple: watermelon.

Connie’s words to live by capture her approach to teaching and to life: “The purpose of life is to provide material for making art.”

Marbles & Mobility: Healthful Aging in the 21st Century runs October 3 to October 24, Fridays from 10:00 to 11:30 am on campus at North Seattle College.
