M Quarles

M is a former New York based jeweler and educator. Their background is based in classic metalsmithing as well as fine jewelry techniques having worked in the jewelry industry in New York City post-undergrad. Their personal work focuses on the combination of non-traditionally constructed pieces featuring organic motifs and mixed media combined with modern, more technical stone setting and goldsmithing style. M's passion is working with students on a one-on-one basis as well in larger groups from beginner to advanced. Their teaching style focuses on building students' confidence in using tools and classic techniques in order to use this knowledge in non-traditional ways to make truly original work. 

M holds a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College with an emphasis in Fine Metalsmithing and Education. They worked for Catbird and other fine jewelry companies in New York but after relocating to Seattle they primarily enjoy holding private lessons for folks interested in learning the trade who aren't able to access classes or a full jewelry studio.
