Jared Cortese

Jared grew up in SW Michigan and has been playing music his whole life. He received a BFA in music from Columbia College Chicago, with a concentration in Jazz Guitar, and has been performing and teaching in the Seattle area since 2011.

As a teacher, he has instructed students of all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds who have gone on to play music in their high school bands and theater groups, study music in college, and some have even pursued music professionally themselves. He has taught over 10,000 lessons, written three workbooks, developed both a guitar technique and music theory workshop, holds seasonal recitals for his students, and organizes an annual performance-based summer camp.

Jared loves all styles of music and enjoys learning about new music from his students and watching them achieve a skill they never thought was possible. He teaches every level of guitar, songwriting, and music theory as well as beginner and intermediate ukulele. Jared is also a professional songwriter, recording artist, and performer in Seattle. He has composed music, toured all over the country with multiple bands, and is currently performing with, and writing music for, Seattle bands Warren Dunes and Electric NoNo.
