Before you can take the Adult Family Home Administrator Certification course, you must register and pay the testing fee for the required English proficiency test. This test is a prerequisite for certification, and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) requires all students to demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency before enrolling in the course.
Register for the AFH English Test before August 26th. The Summer Quarter AFH English proficiency test is available for testing until September 17th.
If you do not complete the test by September 17th, 2025, you will need to register again and pay the fee for the Fall Quarter test.
Please note that you cannot register for the Adult Family Home Administrator Certification course until you have successfully passed the English proficiency test.

Passing an English Proficiency Test is required as a prerequisite for the Adult Family Home Administrator Certification. There is no set day/time to take this test.
Register and pay the Transcript Review Fee if you want to use a transcript to show that you completed and passed English 101. Your transcript must be: An official transcript, from an accredited U.S. college or university and mailed directly from the college or university in a sealed envelope. After you register and pay the Transcript Review Fee, we will send you an email with more instructions. Transcripts are reviewed once each month. You cannot register for the Administrator Certification until your transcript has been reviewed and approved.
